Today is Bank Holiday Monday: MayDay!
A day off from work, to relax and catch up on some stuff you otherwise would not have had the time to do.. That's Bank Holiday Monday for everyone else!
For me the only thing that I caught up on was sleep! And a couple odd jobs that I felt the need to do.
I also randomly spent the majority of my day watching clips on YouTube of how people came to Christ, I watched an interview with the actor who played Jesus in "The Passion of Christ" by Mel Gibson (crazy amazing), which then led me to watching "The Passion of Christ" because I had never seen it before, which was also crazy amazing!
*Side note: I didn't understand what they were saying because they were speaking in Jewish and I couldn't find one with English subtitles (lol) but it was cool because the parts that I couldn't figure out I just went right to the plug (my bible for those wondering!) to find out what was going on!*
Which leads me to my blog post today..
Some scenes in "The Passion of Christ" brought me to tears. Some of it I couldn't watch because of its sheer brutality. It really brought home to me the reality of what Jesus did for us. And the fact that He did it for the people who were literally tearing Him to shreds, in both their words and actions.
Mayday
/ˈmeɪdeɪ/
noun
There are times when something terrible happens and we run around crying "Mayday! Mayday!"
Instead of running and crying to the plug, (the bible, remember?), we run to everything else.
We run to relationships because we think a man or woman, can save us.
We run to alcohol and drugs, because we think everyone else is doing it plus it makes me feel better so why not?
We run to masturbation and sex, because instant gratification always works right?
We run to social media, because when has pouring my whole life out onto the internet ever been a bad idea?
(lol pun intended)
I don't think there's anything wrong with running and crying out. I do think there's something wrong with whom we are running and crying out too..
Jesus died on the cross for us. He took all of our sin, the beatings, the whipping, the insults, the slaps, everything for us.
So that whenever we run into a "Mayday!" situation, we can run and cry into Him and trust Him to have our backs.
He doesn't want us to turn to people, or alcohol/drugs, sexual relationships or even social media because 10 times out of 10, they won't help you and you may feel momentary happiness but there will still be a weight of burden upon you afterwards. (Trust me, I know)
Your "Mayday!" situation can be anything! It can be as small as not knowing what to do with your day off or it can be as big as losing a family member.
Whatever it may be, Jesus honestly, genuinely cares for you and loves you and wants to sort it out for you. Otherwise He wouldn't have died for you!
Once your mind begins to grasp hold of that supernatural thing that Jesus did for you, you'll realise that NOTHING (even your "Mayday!") is too hard for Him.
Loves,
Chid
