I first saw the above quote in July 2014 - it resonated with me then and still resonates with me now.
I remember growing up and not being the most prettiest or the most sought after or the most attractive girl and I so badly wanted to be the girl that all of the boys fancied.
In 2014, I was in my second year of university, and I don't know how to say this without sounding cocky, but to a minority of boys I did end up being that girl.
I was suddenly seen as something that I wasn't use to being seen as and I revelled in it!
However, as crazy as it sounds, there is only so many times that you can hear someone call you attractive.
What about my mind?
My intellect?
My wit?
Sense of humour?
I say all of this because sadly George Michael passed away on Sunday 25th December 2016 and this morning I was reading a news article about his life.
It is crazy to me that whilst he was alive, the headlines were often stories about his private life, and they were more than likely to be negative. Now that he has passed, it is his philanthropy acts that are being widely documented.
Amazing, generous, spontaneous, heartfelt acts of love and kindness that he showcased to others.
It made me wonder.. when I am dead and gone, what will be my legacy? How will I be remembered? Do I want to be remembered as the pretty girl in uni who got with a bunch of guys? Or do I want to be remembered for making a difference? Stamping this world with my intelligence and my force and my brilliance and my light?
Being loved for my thoughts, my ideas and my amazing, generous, spontaneous, heartfelt acts of love and kindness.
"..Your legacy is what you do everyday. Your legacy is every life you've touched, every person whose life was either moved or not. It's every person you've harmed or helped. That's your legacy."
